Frequently Asked Questions

What is evidence-based treatment and how is it different from other therapies?

Evidence-based treatments (EBTs) are forms of psychotherapy that have been rigorously studied in controlled settings. They have been tested on people suffering from specific disorders (e.g., PTSD) to prove their effectiveness in reducing mental health symptoms and improving quality of life. Unlike standard talk therapy, EBTs typically are shorter in duration and more directed by the therapist (although there’s always room to discuss emerging issues). Clients geared towards approaches that are focused, goal-directed, and skills-based often resonate well with EBTs.

Do you accept health insurance plans?

Currently, I do not accept health insurance and will discuss fees with you before sessions begin. Sometimes, health insurance companies reimburse for “out of network” benefits that can be applied to the services I provide. I strongly encourage you to research these benefits before starting treatment. I provide all clients with an itemized receipt of services that you can submit to your insurance company (if applicable).

Do you offer both virtual and in-person appointments?

All clients have the option of being seen virtually. For clients who would like to meet in person, I have limited openings for office visits. If interested, please inquire with me about specific day and time availability.
